A brief observation
A city begins in the body.
Study 005 · Heat, distance and a changing pace
We often say we understand a city when we know its map. But the body learns it earlier.
It knows which distance is walkable in this heat, where the air changes at the entrance to a station, when a crowded carriage asks us to become smaller, and which route leaves enough quiet before arriving.
A city becomes familiar when movement no longer needs constant explanation. The body has begun to edit the map for the life actually being lived.
